STN partners with Plan Canada to save lives in Guinea!

Nov. 9, 2011 - Spread the Net and Plan Canada announced today that it will embark on a partnership to provide 25,000 bed nets to families living in malaria-endemic Guinea, West Africa!

Malaria is the number one killer of children under five in Africa. It is spread to humans through the bite of a mosquito carrying the Plasmodium parasite.

"Every 45 seconds a child in Africa dies from malaria," said Rick Mercer, STN co-founder. "The proper use of long-lasting insecticidal bed nets, paired with community education programs, is a cost-effective way to prevent the spread of this deadly disease. We're excited to work with Plan Canada and fellow Canadians to save more lives."
