Spread the Net

Spread The Net Campaign Orkin/PCO Services Canada

We are pleased to announce that Orkin PCO Services has joined with the "Spread the Net" campaign - a UNICEF Canada Initiative to Help Prevent Malaria deaths in Africa through a similar program of purchasing mosquito nets for use in Africa.

In Africa, one child dies of malaria every 30 seconds, 3,000 children a day, and malaria is estimated to cause up to 15 per cent of maternal anemia cases. It is the largest single cause of death among African children under five years of age.

Stopping the Spread of Malaria

Insecticide-treated bed nets are the most efficient and cost-effective way to protect children from malaria. Properly treated insecticide-treated bed nets can reduce child mortality by up to 50 per cent. For only $10, UNICEF can provide a long-lasting insecticide-treated net and help ensure that families know how to use it properly to protect their children from malaria. By spreading the net across malaria-endemic countries in Africa, we have the chance to save one child every 30 seconds.

Thanks to you we are one step closer to reaching our goal to raise a minimum of $15,000.00 for Unicef Canada and Spread the Net campaign. Spread the Net will use funds like ours to purchase and distribute long lasting insecticide-treated mosquito bed nets to the areas of greatest need in Africa.

Your contribution goes directly towards purchasing and distributing a net and then teaching the recipient to use it properly.

This campaign is a great way for the Orkin/ PCO family to truly make a difference and help fight the spread of malaria -- a deadly, yet preventable disease.

It also gives us a chance to educate others around the globe about pests and diseases they can carry.

Thank you
